The project aims to create resource efficient waste management systems by reducing Unintentionally Produced Persistent Organic Pollutants (U-POPs) emissions through the introduction of BAT & BEP in open burning sources and achieving approximately 90% reduction of the current Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD) and Polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF) releases at pilot demonstration sites in participating countries. The project fulfills the objectives reported in the National Implementation Plans (NIPs) and specific national plans through involving national stakeholders and the private sector as executing partners, making a shift from burning of waste to recycling or re-use. The Coastal Zone Profiling of Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape is a one-year project being implemented by DENR Region 12 in cooperation with partner LGUs, and with technical support of the University of the Philippines-Marine Science Institute (UP-MSI), and National Institute of Physics. For this Project, the areas for Strict Protection Zones (critical habitats, restoration and rehabilitation areas) and Multi-Use Zones (dive sites for ecotourism, areas for fry gathering, mariculture, fishing and for other livelihood activities) are being intensively identified for purposes of coming up with appropriate and clear decision for the management of SBPS, vis-à-vis, harmonized plans and programs, increased collection of Integrated Protected Area Fund (IPAF), delineated foreshore areas for its management improvement, and formulation of dive ecotourism code.
