Description:

The project aims to create resource efficient waste management systems by reducing Unintentionally Produced Persistent Organic Pollutants (U-POPs) emissions through the introduction of BAT & BEP in open burning sources and achieving approximately 90% reduction of the current Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD) and Polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF) releases at pilot demonstration sites in participating countries. The project fulfills the objectives reported in the National Implementation Plans (NIPs) and specific national plans through involving national stakeholders and the private sector as executing partners, making a shift from burning of waste to recycling or re-use.
