The Enhancing Del Carmen Mangrove Cruise Biodiversity Friendly Enterprise is a two-year collaborative project of DENR and LGU Del Carmen. The project will facilitate development of ecotourism enterprise (i.e. mangrove cruise) by partnering with the Del Carmen Pumpboat Tour Operators Association (DELCAPTOA). The project is envisioned to ultimately conserve and protect mangrove areas in SIPLAS by enhancing and promoting biodiversity friendly ecotourism enterprises to support local communities to ultimately decrease the pressure on the natural resources (i.e. mangrove resources). The Conservation of Mangrove through Rice Hull Fed Wine Distillery - Nipa Wine Production is a two-year collaborative project of DENR and LGU Infanta. The project will be implemented with the partner People’s Organizations: (1) Barangay Abiawin Farmers Association (BAFA); (2) Alitas Farmer Association (AFA); and (3) Binonoan Farmers and Fisherfolks Association (BFFA). At the end of the project, it is envisioned to sustain mangrove conservation efforts while helping coastal communities to improve their economic activities by enhancing technologies on distillery for the local popular product of Infanta known as “Lambanog” or Nipa Wine. Introduced invasive alien species is now posing an enormous threat to the world’s biological diversity and in the case of Philippines, particularly in Mindanao, a more alarming invasive alien species that seems to pose threat to protection of forests or natural forests in the area is the increasing spread or geographical distribution of Piper aduncum (buyo-buyo).
