Description:

The project aims: 1) to control the HCFC-141b consumption growth to a maximum of 5%. Consumption will grow from 391 MT in 2010, to 410 MT in 2011; 2) to stabilize the HCFC-141b consumption in the foam sector to meet the freeze target in January 2013. Activities that would enable the companies to reduce the consumption will be implemented. These activities include the purchase of non-ODS equipment, installation, test run and monitoring as well as training of companies on the operation and maintenance of these non-ODS technologies; and 3) to phase-out the total consumption of HCFC-141b in the foam sector in 2013. Description:

The project aims to strengthen the conservation, protection and management of key biodiversity sites in the Philippines by institutionalizing Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Conserved Areas and Territories (ICCAs) as a sustainable addition to the national Protected Area (PA) estate through strengthening the legal and regulatory framework and administrative procedures that harmonizes the mandates, plans and activities amongst national government agencies involved. It will improve capacities of indigenous peoples (IPs) and key stakeholders for effective governance and management of ICCAs. The Sulu-Sulawesi Marine Ecoregion (SSME) or Sulu-Sulawesi Seascape (SSS) is a Priority Seascape located in the Western lndo Pacific region at the apex of the Coral Triangle covering 1 million km' of marine and terrestrial areas in Indonesia (North Sulawesi and East Kalimantan), Malaysia (Sabah) and the Philippines. The three countries are already collaborating under the SSME Comprehensive Action Plan (CAP) on the promotion of climate smart projects in the SSME region which explicitly take into account the protection of biodiversity.
