Abesamis, Eddie Abugan, Jr., Mitchico Venus Navaluna, and Inocencio CastilloLed by Assistant Secretary for Foreign-Assisted and Special Projects Rommel Abesamis, delegates of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) went to the US to attend the 107th International District Energy Association (IDEA) 2016 Annual Conference and Trade Show in St. Paul River Centre, Minnesota starting June 20 until June 23, 2016. The other officials representing DENR were Inocencio Castillo, Mitchico Venus Navaluna, and Eddie Abugan, Jr.

The event focused on exploring emerging technologies and innovative policies and connecting with global leaders advancing a new energy paradigm for cities, communities and campuses. Specifically, the IDEA 2016 highlighted technical workshops on district energy in cities, district cooling forum, and technical tours to showcase various innovations in the field of climate change mitigation and low carbon solutions, which might complement to the DENR’s Environmental Management System initiatives. The trade show also featured companies involved in the design and operation of district cooling centers.

Funded by the Multilateral Fund component of the Philippine Chiller Efficiency Project (PCEEP), a World Bank-assisted project implemented by the DENR, the activity was a continuation of a series of DENR District Cooling System (DCS) Learning Missions, the last one being held in Qatar in February 2016. #
