profor asia pacific forestry weekPROFOR Technical Working Group and SecretariatThe Forest Management Bureau (FMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), World Bank, and the Program on Forests (PROFOR) organized a conference on Forest Development Planning for Climate Change Resilience and Poverty Reduction on February 24, 2016 in time for the Asia-Pacific Forestry Week at the Widus Hotel, Clark, Pampanga.

The event showcased the study entitled The Role of Forests in Reducing Poverty and Enhancing Climate Resilience, which focuses on the importance of forests ecosystem services to human well-being. With funding support from the PROFOR, the study was jointly undertaken by the DENR and World Bank.

Director Ricardo L. Calderon of the FMB and Maurice Andres Rawlins, Project Co-Task Team Leader of the World Bank, emphasized the importance of an ecosystem-based approach for assessing the contribution of forest services, for enhancing resilience to climate change, and for reducing poverty. #
