The Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) has taken a step forward in its efforts to mainstream the Enhanced Climate-Smart Farmers Field Schools (ECSFFS) Program Manual for Trainers.

The ECSFFS Program Manual for Trainers is a key output of the BSWM under the Component 2.2 of the Philippines Climate Change Adaptation Project (PhilCCAP).

Dr. Gina Nilo, PhilCCAP Focal Head for BSWM, led the briefing and dissemination of the program manual on September 28, 2016 at the BSWM Convention Hall, Department of Agriculture Building, Quezon City.

She shared the process on how the manual was developed. An overview of its contents was also presented.

More than 60 participants comprised of staff and officials from national government agencies, local government units, and state universities and colleges received copies of the manual, along with a DVD containing additional technical reference materials.

The program manual was warmly received by the participants. Local chief executives attending from Iloilo also expressed their interest in partnering with the BSWM to conduct trainings and briefings within their localities.

Aside from the briefing and dissemination activity, PhilCCAP implementers from the Agricultural Training Institute, National Irrigation Administration, and PAGASA were provided the opportunity to inform participants with their accomplishments under the project.

On May 30, the Department of Agriculture released Memorandum Circular No. 3 series of 2016, officially adopting the ECSFFS program manual as the technical reference for mainstreaming climate change adaptation in agriculture in its extension services. #
