Baguio City - The Foreign-Assisted and Special Projects Service (FASPS) conducted a three-day orientation on foreign-assisted and special projects management cycle at Azalea Hotel here amidst raging winds and torrential rains brought by Typhoon Haima on October 18-20, 2016 to establish a closer working relationship between FASPS and the Regional Offices.
The orientation aimed to discuss the different types of Overseas Development Assistance Projects and their distribution nationwide, the processes and procedures that FASPS follows in project preparation and packaging, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Attended by Assistant Secretary Rommel Abesamis, Overall Director Edwin Domingo, Regional Directors, Division Chiefs, Provincial Environment and Natural Resource Officers, Community Environment and Natural Resource Officers and FASPS staff members, the orientation underlined the duties of FASPS to oversee, coordinate and facilitate the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of DENR's foreign assisted and special projects as well as its identification, preparation and promotion of investment project and program proposals for possible foreign and local assistance in close coordination with DENR’s Regional Offices as field implementers.
Assistant Secretary for FASPS Rommel Abesamis encouraged the participants to closely work hand-in-hand for the coordination of the two offices and their harmonization of plans to be able to implement projects successfully. He further urged them to keep in mind the most efficient and effective ways to execute the plans not only for the benefit of the Department but also for the Filipino people through teamwork and dedication. #
