The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the European Union (EU) conducted the 6th Steering Committee Meeting of the Policy Support Components (PSC) project implemented in the Philippines under the SWITCH-Asia Programme at the Marco Polo Ortigas Manila on January 25, 2017. The gathering was designed to present the minutes of the 5th Steering Committee Meeting and discuss the progress and results of the project for 2016, its work plan for the extension period, and agreed upon activities during the succeeding months.

The SWITCH-Asia Policy Support Components project is funded by EU and supports the Philippine government in sustainable consumption and production (SCP) related policies. The project commenced in July 2012 and was scheduled to finish in December 2016. It has been extended until June 12, 2017.

Among the items arising from these discussions was putting a premium on timely completion of a number of key policy support activities with corresponding comprehensive communication and education activities to improve sustainability prospects and enhance impact and visibility of the project and EU support.

DENR Assistant Secretary Rommel Abesamis presided the meeting with EU representative Mr. Gabriel Dayre, SWITCH-Asia PSC-Philippines Team Leader Dr. Channa Gunawardena, and Government Procurement Policy Board Director Atty. Dennis Santiago attending. Other delegates from partner agencies of the executive branch of Philippine government were also present. #
