The private sectors are indispensable partners of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in fulfilling its mandate for the conservation, management, development and proper use of the country’s environment and natural resources. In this light, the DENR and the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on February 28, 2017 to collaborate on projects addressing environmental concerns. In addition, the Department inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) to formalize MMPC’s commitment to support the Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) Strategy of the DENR, particularly on the establishment of 100 hectares of bamboo/mangrove plantation within four to five years.
DENR Secretary Regina Paz L. Lopez was on hand to sign the deals, along with MMC and MMPC Presidents Mr. Osamu Masuko and Mr. Yoshiaki Kato, respectively.
This partnership arrangement was spearheaded by the Project Preparation Division of the Foreign Assisted and Special Projects Service of the DENR. (FASPS/ Mary Edestin G. Henson)
