The Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) is “an intergovernmental organization operating in East Asia to foster and sustain healthy and resilient oceans, coasts, communities and economies across the region.”
In 2015, PEMSEA launched the Small Grant Programme for Youth to further encourage the youth of the East Asian region to undertake and promote initiatives that contribute to the local implementation of the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia (SDS-SEA) and the Integrated Coastal Management (ICM).
The first awardee was an Indonesian, who led her organization to plant 1.5 hectares of mangroves in a coastal community that used to be vulnerable to flooding and coastal erosion.
Believing that there are still many young leaders across the region who can also create positive impacts within their communities, PEMSEA announces the Youth Grant Competition for 2017 with a call for project proposals from youth leaders in East Asia. A chance to receive up to $2,000 of funding support awaits those who submit concrete projects proposals that meet the criteria.
The deadline for submission of project proposals is on August 31, 2017. For mechanics and other details, go to https://goo.gl/cNW3wQ. (PEMSEA)
