FASPS personnel joined the Samu’t Saring Tikim Fair, an activity celebrating the 2019 International Day for Biological Diversity with the theme “Our Biodiversity, Our Food, Our Health”. The activity was organized by the Biodiversity Management Bureau.
One highlight of the event was the launching of the book Public Parks, Open and Green Spaces: a Planning & Development Guide and Native Plants of Boracay Wetlands.
The celebration featured lectures about nutrition and traditional medicines and healing. Native foods were on display and served to entice people to go back to the traditional Philippine cookery and use locally sourced ingredients. Instructional cooking demonstrations to show how to cook sinaing na galunggong (steamed galunggong), kamote doughnut (sweet potato doughnut), adobong salagubang (beetle), and ant eggs were also shown.
