PWP enforcement group protocols to safeguard sarangani bay 600pxProtected Area Management Office and USAID Protect Wildlife turn over the Protected Area Management Plan and protocol to DENR Region 12 and national government agencies

In celebration of the first-ever Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape (SBPS) Week, the Protect Wildlife project teamed up with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 12, local government units (LGUs) and other stakeholders in General Santos City on March 3-4, 2020 to organize a wildlife and environmental crime enforcement summit, to launch the SBPS Enforcement Protocol, and to ceremonially turn over the SBPS Management Plan.

With the new SBPS Management Plan as a guide, concerned agencies like the Protected Area Management Office (PAMO), the Protected Area Management Board, and the SBPS Law Enforcement Group can now act seamlessly based on a unified vision and objective to reduce the threats to Sarangani Bay and manage the protected seascape according to long-term framework plan.

Developed through the assistance of the Protect Wildlife project, the SBPS Enforcement Protocol contains operational guidelines on what enforcers should do when performing regular patrols, inspections, seaborne operations and general administrative processes. (PWP/ Meg Yandoc)
