The Coastal Zone Profiling of Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape is a one-year project being implemented by DENR Region 12 in cooperation with partner LGUs, and with technical support of the University of the Philippines-Marine Science Institute (UP-MSI), and National Institute of Physics. For this Project, the areas for Strict Protection Zones (critical habitats, restoration and rehabilitation areas) and Multi-Use Zones (dive sites for ecotourism, areas for fry gathering, mariculture, fishing and for other livelihood activities) are being intensively identified for purposes of coming up with appropriate and clear decision for the management of SBPS, vis-à-vis, harmonized plans and programs, increased collection of Integrated Protected Area Fund (IPAF), delineated foreshore areas for its management improvement, and formulation of dive ecotourism code. Moreover, the Project is envisioned to serve as a model for the completion of the 33 NIPAS Marine KBAs database.
