Following the Eastern Mindanao Biodiversity Corridor site inception workshops in the cities of Davao and Butuan last March, the Mindoro Biodiversity Corridor (MBC) hosted the site inception workshop of the DENR-UNDP/GEF Biodiversity Corridor Project for both Oriental and Occidental Mindoro provinces in Calapan City on May 12-13, 2022. This was made possible in cooperation with the Foreign Assisted and Special Projects Service of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-FASPS), the Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB), and the National Project Management Unit (NPMU) of the project.
The workshop focused on updates of baselines and midterm amendments of project indicators, and review of annual workplans for 2022-2023 and beyond and of project monitoring and evaluation plan.
MBC Project Manager Shalimar Ilejay and BD Corridor NRM Officer Ariel Erasga presented the social and environmental screening procedures including project risk log, gender action and stakeholder engagement plans, and indigenous peoples planning framework. Similarly, Clariza Ablaza of UNDP Philippines presented the Social and Environmental Standards while Michelle Yu of DENR-FASPS and BD Corridor Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer Dulcie Rivera discussed the Project Results Framework and M&E plan.
