GUDAFA’s Coffee Huller Machine and Multi-Purpose Warehouse Facility
In 2016, the implementation of the Integrated Natural Resources and Environmental Management Project (INREMP) made some headway in Gun-oban, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. Around this time, the Gun-oban Dapulan Farmers Association (GUDAFA), Inc., was formed and has since been led by its president, Jocelyn L. Pagara.
The organization is the implementing partner of the project in the area. It has established and managed 110 hectares of agroforestry, 30 hectares of reforestation, and 30 hectares of reforestation using the assisted natural regeneration (ANR) modality.
Since coffee is one of local farmers’ high-valued commodities even before the introduction of INREMP, they availed of a project grant amounting to Php 0.30 M to acquire a Coffee Huller Machine and Multi-Purpose Warehouse Facility. Just this year, the organization has started to harvest coffee beans and has made use of the facility. They are also buying green coffee beans from other farmers outside the association when they have realized that the market demand for green coffee beans is high.
GUDAFA is optimistic that the coffee industry will continue to grow and that more and more farmers will benefit from it.
ITMPC’s All-Weather Plastic Dryer
The Inhandig Tribal Multi-Purpose Cooperative (ITMPC) in Dalwangan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon has partnered with INREMP since 2015 to manage a 50-hectare agroforestry planted mainly of Arabica coffee. In 2017, it won the “Kape Pilipino Green Quality” competition under the Arabica Category held at the Cavite State University. It then got invited to the Global Specialty Coffee Expo in Seattle, Washington, USA.
All-weather plastic dryer for coffee beans
On February 12, 2020, the ITMPC received an All-Weather Plastic Dryer from INREMP. The facility significantly helps reduce processing costs and postharvest losses and improve the overall quality of its product.
