February 9, 2023 – The Land Management Bureau (LMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Deustche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH launched in Quezon City the Unified Map under the Responsible Land Governance in Mindanao (RLGM) Project.
One of the outputs of the RLGM Project is to strengthen the exchange of land data and information between national agencies and local governments. Through the development of the Unified Map, data users from different government agencies can share their spatial data with other offices through the Internet. The data sharing is bound by a Memorandum of Agreement to be signed by the participating agencies.
Engr. Oliver Macapinlac, GIZ Consultant for Unified Map, introduced the information system’s user interface and demonstrated its workflow.
Atty. Emelyne Talabis, the director of LMB, encouraged Regions 10, 11, and Caraga to adopt and implement the Unified Map. She said that it was an opportune to gauge the willingness and readiness of the agencies to online data and information sharing. She added that the LMB was planning on connecting the Unified Map to the DENR One Control Map.
Other officials of the DENR, field offices of national government agencies, and local government units, and staff of the RLGM Project were on hand to participate in the said activity. (RLGM/ Nicole Ortega)
