The River Basin Control Office (RBCO) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) through the Ecosystem-Based Management and Application of Ecosystem Services Valuation in 2 River Basins (E2RB) project initiated the review and updating of the Ilog-Hilabangan River Basin (IHRB) and Tagum-Libuganon River Basin (TLRB) Integrated River Basin Development and Master Plans.

Since October 2023, the E2RB project, in cooperation with the regional DENR offices, has been conducting consultations and gathering relevant data including updated local development plans to integrate ecosystem-based adaptation approaches into the IHRB and TLRB master plans.

Stakeholders from the local government units deliberated on the master plan to make it more relevant and aligned with current priorities that include addressing impacts of climate change and integrating ecosystem financing into the river basin investment plans. A series of meetings was organized to further refine the results of the workshops.

The final river basin master plans will be submitted to the corresponding Regional Development Councils for endorsement to and approval of the DENR. (E2RB/ Marion Daclan)
